Here goes:  I will be perfectly honest with you; one of the reasons that I came to the world of spirituality was because I "wanted" a different life.  I heard all this stuff about the Law of Attraction and how you created your life, and I thought, "Aha, this will bring me what I want."  Little did I know that I didn't need spirituality at all to get what I "wanted".

     It was very interesting, you would hear me say things like "I want a soul mate."  "I want to know my life's purpose."  "I want a better job."  And, then, I would sit back and wonder why I wasn't meeting my soul mate, knowing my life's purpose, or getting a better job.  The irony if the whole situation was that even though I wasn't getting the things or the experiences, I was getting exactly what I WANTED and exactly what I was praying for...

     There is a song in the Unity movement that consists of the following words:  "Our thoughts are prayers and we are always praying.  Our thoughts are prayers, listen to what you're saying..."  The reason that I wasn't getting the life's purpose, the soul mate, etc. was because I wasn't listening to the words I was using to create.  How many times in a day was I using the word WANT?  Do you realize that each and every time I used the word WANT I was in the midst of God's instant, constant and abundant supply?  When using the word WANT, my prayer request was immediately being filled.

     What was I truly asking for when I said, "I want a soul mate?"  Even though I thought I was asking for a soul mate, what I was actually asking for was the "want" of a soul mate.  With the absence of said soul mate, my prayer had been answered.  I was in the state of "want".  So, if you say, "I want a boat", you might actually think you are asking to receive a boat.  However, if you examine the statement more closely, you will see that you are not asking for a boat at all.  You are praying to WANT a boat.  As soon as the words "I want " are created in your mind or come out of your mouth, you have manifested your request.  You have the WANT of  your request and you have it instantly, constantly, and abundantly!
